Missing Perl Package Breaks CentOS 5.5 update

If you’re stuck in the middle of updating CentOS and you can’t get around a dumb error that begins:

file /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Compress/Zlib.pm conflicts…

…then I have the answer for you. Pull up your software update manager and look for perl-IO-Compress-2.020-2. The problem seems to stem from the update manager seeing perl-IO-Compress-2.020-1 and not seeing the more recent perl-IO-Compress-2.020-2 package. you might find some insight here.
